NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo

November 20, 2010 by Glynn Stewart Leave a Comment

2,189 today, 36,507/50,000 total. Yesterdays writing included an adorably semi-awkward first date.  It's been a year and some since I had one of those, but I remember them (especially the last) fondly. Today, the reader was introduced to the second identified firearm of the story so far, and the fact that the Fae keep armouries including everything from pistols to grenade launchers to runic orichalcum magic swords. We don't get to play with magic swords though.  Those are reserved for ... Read more »

NaNoWriMo, Motivation, Writing Habits

November 18, 2010 by Glynn Stewart Leave a Comment

So, until I started Nanowrimo at the start of this month, I hadn't written in some time.  There were a number of reasons for this (and that lack of writing was one of the reasons why entries had slowed to a trickle on this blog), but a big one was a lack of motivation and a lack of a writing habit. I had a lot of story ideas, but it was hard to motivate me to write any of them - I still have them, some have been written down and even had outlines created.  NaNoWriMo was a well needed boost to ... Most of the time, when this has come up, I've given up, closed Word and gone to play video games.  Today, I swung back and forth between games and writing and actually managed to break 2000 words despite feeling like I was wading ... National Novel Writing Month, continued

November 8, 2010 by Glynn Stewart Leave a Comment

So today is 1,920 words, with a total of 13,677 out of 50,000 - 27% done the goal for the month. And, after eight days, I have some comments on the whole issue to make :D 1)  50,000 words is NOT a novel.  Anyone doing NaNoWriMo should remember that.  50,000 words is a long novella or a really short YA or Harlequin.  My goal is to write 50,000 words in november, which is a good solid start to a book.  Most genre fiction should be at least 100,000 words. 2) 50,000 words is a good solid ... So I decided to take up the National Novel Writing Month gauntlet for the first time. Also deciding to experiment with a first person perspective. We'll see how it goes.  Watch this space for updates. 1882/50000 so far. ... Read more »
