Sword of Mars Available Now

June 11, 2019 by Kate Larking 16 Comments

Are you prepared for the next instalment in the space fantasy series Starship’s Mage Universe? Damien Montgomery and Roslyn Chambers return in Sword of Mars:

A defector with a dangerous lead
A chance to speak for the silent
A perilous quest into enemy stars

When the star system of Legatus was preparing to secede from the Protectorate of the Mage-King of Mars, it was the secret agents of the Legatan Military Intelligence Directorate that laid the groundwork and fought the covert war to make it happen.

Now, as the open conflict draws to a bloody stalemate, LMID has been broken. Their leader is dead, murdered by agents of the Republic they helped birth. Their surviving agents have scattered, following a final protocol that orders them to defect to the Protectorate.

An old friend brings all of this to Damien Montgomery, First Hand of the Mage-King, and begs for his help in unravelling the mystery. The only answers lie where the Hands of Mars should never go: on the worlds of the Republic.

The audiobook is in production with our friends over at Podium Publishing. The paperback version of the book is available here.

Some of it was research, some of it was memory. I lived in Cheshire for four years as a kid.

Will Mountain of Mars be the last in the series? I have to admit I’m dreading the day the series ends as it’s been one of my favorites. I’m just wondering how many more books we might expect.

Mountain of Mars is planned to be the last Damien Montgomery-centric novel. It certainly won’t be the last Starship’s Mage novel or even the end of the main line plot.

Gotta admit the news of Mountain being the last Damien-centric installment has bummed me out… Ive become quite fond of his mixture of naivete and strength of character.

It’s with the audiobook publisher but the timelines for audio production are vague at best. I’d guess late September, but I could be very wrong.

          Hi David,

We are still waiting for an audiobook update from Podium. We do know that recording for Sword of Mars was started by Jeffrey Kafer on September 16.

We will keep everyone posted on the release date once we know it.

Please expand to Google Play Books. I’m tired of Amazon/Kindle.

Unfortunately, to be in the Kindle Unlimited program the books need to be exclusive to Amazon. We keep a selection of our books on all platforms, but it isn’t economically feasible for us to take the Starship’s Mage series out of KU.
