With barely hours to go to midnight, dinner still uncooked, and a ten hour work day behind me, I scraped out 1200 ish words today to bring Changeling's Fealty to 85,000 words - making my 10,000 word goal for the month. Baby Steps…
This weekend was a mad rush on my part to try and catch up to my now heavily reduced goal. I started the weekend barely past five thousand words, and realized that without a significant effort, I wasn't even going to make my reduced 10,000 word goal! Well, with racking in 2,346 words today, I am 9,017/10,000 for the month. Hopefully, I will make the last nine hundred odd words tomorrow night, but for now, I have work in the morning and a cat on my lap. Time to put the writing cap ... Read more »
Progress!
For the first time in a while, I broke a 1000 word writing day! A lot of my writing this month has been 'write 1500 word scene over a week,' but today I managed 1208 words. Seems kind of sad after November and December'st three to five thousand word days, but its better than most of this month has seen! January Goals
So January has so far been a complete failure on trying to meet my goals. It is the 23rd, and I just passed 4,000 words this month. I'm intending to pass 80,000 words on Fealty today, which will put me at 5,000 words towards this months goal of 30,000. The reason? Life happens. The month started with the usual end of Christmas/start of New Year chaos. After that. it was mostly work. New Year, New Goal, Same Challenges
So, it is now 2011, and my goal for January is very simple: Finish Changeling's Fealty. I was at 75,000 words at the end of 2010, and the story looks like it will be around 100,000 words. The target for the month is 30,000 words or when the novel is finished, whichever comes first. How far have I got? About six hundred words. December Goal – Made it (or close enough)
I am finishing up for December at 74,923 words. This puts me 77 words short of where I intended to be at the end of the month, and I can live with that. Having the goal for the month led me to really push myself to write more this last week, and its been good for me. The monthly goals will continue.
