I interviewed with the Risingshadow blog for the release of Interstellar Mage, the first book in the Starship’s Mage spinoff trilogy Red Falcon. In the Q&A, I talk about my list of inspirations and writing science fiction from an optimistic perspective.
Risingshadow: Is there anything you can tell us about the characters in this novel?
Glynn: The two major characters are David Rice, who was the Captain of the Blue Jay in the first Starship’s Mage book, and Maria Soprano, the new Ship’s Mage.
David is a pretty stoic man, focused on his crew, trying to keep himself and his crew out of trouble. Unfortunately for him, he also has a soft spot a mile wide for people in trouble.
Maria, on the other hand, is an ex-Navy officer who did the wrong thing for the right reasons and was semi-dishonorably discharged. She’s trying to find herself a new place in life, and a merchant ship seems like the best way to do so.
